The makers behind the mission

Our Story
Maker Alley is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on making creativity and hands-on learning accessible to everyone. We are a youth-led, completely volunteer-run organization.
We’re based in the heart of Silicon Valley, a place known for innovation and opportunity. But there are many marginalized communities here that don’t have access to the tools, spaces, and support that help people explore and create.
At its core, Maker Alley is about opening doors — making it easier for more people to discover what they can create and that they belong in S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) fields.
Through our free maker festivals and community events, Maker Alley creates welcoming spaces for people to try new things, build skills, and connect with others. We’re especially focused on reaching underserved communities, because we believe everyone should have the chance to be creative and bring their ideas to life.
At our festivals, kids and families have the opportunity to build hands-on projects, create their own ideas, and explore our interactive exhibits.

With every festival we host,
we help young makers realize:
"S.T.E.A.M. is for me, too."
